WAR BADGES.

REGULATIONS ISSUED. , ; A "Gazette" extraordinary was issued on Saturday proclaiming the following regulations under the War Regulations Act, 1916: —■ 1. These regulations shall be read together with and deemed part of the (War Regulations made on November 10th, 1914.

2. The Minister for Defence may approve of a badge to be worn by men who —■ (a) Have been enlisted or enrolled for active service in the present war but have not yet been called up: or (b) Who have been honourably discharged from the expeditionary forces, or have been in any manner engaged in active service during the present war, and have been discharged therefrom or; (c) Who have offered themselves for active service in the present war but have been rejected as unable to fulfil the requirements of the Defence Department; or (d) Who are engaged in an exempted industry as' hereinafter defined. 3. "Exempted industry" means any industry which in the opinion of the Minister for Defence is so related to the requirements of the present war 'that the recruiting of persons engaged in that industry is not expedient in the public interest. 4. The badge s o to be approved may be in such several different forms 'as the Minister for Defence thinks fit. 5 The badge so approved may be is. sued by any military officers to such persons as are deemed qualified to receive and wear the same. 6. Every badge so issued shall be accompanied by a card signed by a military officer and containing particulars as to the person to whom it is issuer and the reasons for its issue. 7. No person other than a person to whom such a badge has been duly issued by a military officer shall wear any badge so approved by the Minister for Defence, cr any badge so nearly resembling the game as to be calculated to deceive.

8. No person shall falsely represent himself to be >x person who is entitled to wear any such badge.

9. No person shall, without lawful authority supply any such badge to any person not authorised to wear the same.

10. Every person to whom any such badge has been issued shall at all times while wearing the badge or having it in his personal possession carry with him the card issued to him along with the badge as, aforesaid, and shall, on the request of 'any military officer or constable, produce the said card for his inspection.
