MINES, BOMBS, AND BAYONETS. LONDON, February 12. Sir Douglas Haig reports— The enemy early to-day broke into our trenches near Pilchem, but were crriven out.

A communique says: Artillery and machine-gun fire frustrated attempts to cross the Yser Canal near Steenstraete and Hethas.

There is great artillery activity in Champagne. The enemy penetrated a small salient line between Navarin and St. Souplt roads. LONDON, Feb. 13. British headquarters reports futile aerial attacks.

Two infantry attacks about Pilckcn road were also repulsed. In an underground fight near Cornmine Canal the enemy was driven back, our miners firing their charge.
