SWINDLING SMUGGLERS.
Arwonos of smuggling of oils and fats into Germany from Holland, an article in a German publication here, the' Deutehe 'Wcchenzeitung fur die Niederlande, -warns German traders against the swindling propensities of the Hutch smugglers (says an Amsterdam correspondent). The Germans arc apparently at the mercy of these illicit traders. avlio are taking evcTy advantage of the necessarily secret conditions under which th e business is being carried on. Thus a German merchant who was congratulating himself on having secured a more than usually large consignment of linseed oil was mortified to discover, when examining his purchase, that the barrels were for the most part filled with water. The German had, of course, sent cash with order, because the Dutch smugglers refuse to trade on any other terms.
