STOCK SALE. ABRAHAM & WILLIAMS, LTD, REPORT.
At Hunterville on Tuesday we had a heavy yarding of sheep and a fair one of cattle and have to report a very brisk sale, all lots selling except a few cattle. ; We quote:—2th to 4yr. ewes 24/2; 4 and Syr. ewes 20/-, 20/6, 20/9; cull .ewes, 15/-j 2th ewes 23/-; 2th. wethers 23/-, 24/-; small wethers 19/9, cull wethers 14/5; wether lambs 12/8 to 14/-, cull do., 8/10; mixed lambs 14/6, 14/9, 15/-, small do. 10/11, 11/-.; mixed weaners, 30/-. Forward cows £6 15/-, fat do, £8 2/6, £8 10/-.; cows and calves to £9 19/6; 3 year steers £lO 15/-, £ll 10/-; others £8 10/-.; Bulls to £5 5/-. At Mangaweka on Thursday there wa s a good entry 'and every lot sold under the hammer at very high rates. We quote: 2th. wethers 23/8, good lambs 14/3, 14/6, 14/8; medium do. 12/6, 12/9; small do ; . 9/3, 11/2; old ewes, 16/11; bulls to £8 5/-. LONDON MARKETS. LONDON, February 3. Good merinos were very firm. Faulties were rather better in tone. Crossbreds were firm 'and unchanged. Tin —stocks 17.468 tons; spot, 1165 tons; afloat, 2129 tons; deliveries, 1434 tons.
At the tallow sales 242 casks were offered. Buyers refused to bid, as the difficulty in obtaining licenses prevents middlemen from exporting what was previously purchased. Soap-mak-ers are holding off, hoping for 'a reduction.
