SYDNEY, Tab. 3. The Australian Miners' Federation has appointed six delegates" to cover the States and New Zealand and raise funds to carry on the strike. A deputation visited the editor of the Barrier Miner to demand an undertaking that he would cease publishing letters criticising the strikers. Fines totalling £270 each wer-j ; ~ flieted on Chas. Lowe and Frederick Newman for exporting coal from Newcastle without th e necessary permission. . The best butter has increased to 135/4 from to-day, and .cheese has been" reduced to 9|d. A "Workers' Anti-Liquor League has been formed. Membership is confined to Labour League meiribers. A meeting under th e auspices of the Anti-Conscription League protested against the existing veiled conscription, and commended th e New Zealand Federation of Labour's opposition. There was a demonstration by soldiers at a restaurant in George th e men resenting the demands , for payment before they were served in view of what are known -as "Kitchener feeds." Th e windows w-ere smashed. Seven arrests were made.
