NEW SCHEME LAUNCHED. " AN APPEAL TO THE PRESS. The ."Recruiting Board has now launched its now scheme. Under it a personal appeal will be made to our manhood of military age to com.) forward in defence of New Zealand and the Empire. We ask you to give a constant and whole-hearted support to this appeal. We ask you now and for so' long as this terrible menace to our nation exists to do everything in your power to stimulate recruiting and to assist and encourage the patriots who are at work in your district, and to so guide t'ie policy of your paper that no cheek may be given to the flow of men necessary to fulfil our obligations. We are face to face with the most critical period in our history and we confidently look for the help of the Press of the Dominion as a most potent factor in influencing public opinion in favour and support of. our scheme. Mr. Allen states: In connection with the personal appeal recruiting scheme, the Board will issue four distinct type of armlets, quite easily distinguishable. One will be khaki with a crown. They have been examined by the Premier and self and finally approved and adopted by the Recruiting Board. Armlets will be is. sued as follows: —(1) Enlisted and waiting to be called, up. (2) Unable to comply wtih requirements. (3). retained in New Zealand for service. (4) Soldier returned from front.
