In a recent sermon, Bishop Julius, cf Christchurch, said: “You will realise that there is nothing in the religious thought inconsistent with stern severity. One is almost sick of the poor, weak, namby-pamby stuff talked of by. good people in these days. There is something wholesome about that, and when we try to tone it down into pretty sentimental stuff lit for a hymn-book, why then we have lost the very spirit of religion itself.”
