Hitherto it lias been the custom for the Defence Department to notify the next-of-kin by telegram of all instances of soldiers admitted to hospital from the various military training camps. It has now been decided that in future minor cases will be communicated to relatives by letter instead of telegram, and thus obviate the disquieting effects which the receipt of telegrams naturally produce on the recipients.
