UPPER WANGAEHU ROAD BOARD.
■ The monthly meeting of the L'ppor Wangaehu Road Board was held yesterday, when there' were present: ..fessrs. Addis (chairman), Williams, McHardv, PedeJ'sen.
Some discussion took place re the Mataroa Road, and-it was resolved that a loan of £4OO be raised to cover the Board 's sliar e of the work on the road, the interest to be paid out of general rates if possible. The Clerk was instructed to ascertain the steps to be taken and to proceed with the matter.
It was decided to call for tenders for cutting grass-seed on the roads in the district,, the Foreman being empowered to make the necessary arrangments.
The matter of arranging for teams for the grader was left in the hands of (the Fcireman, who expects to make a start on the roads next month. The Foreman (Mr. E. J. Titter) reported that since last meeting he had inspected the whole of the roads, most of which were in fair order. The water tables on the Mataroa Road had been cleaned out and the stones gath•ered up. The stones in the Mataroa Township had been gatlietred up and cilay put on the metal where necessary. The road leading into Shellrock Pit had been almost completed and Mr. Pudney was to start carting next week/ The top end of the Owhakura Road from Bell's Junction to the Wangaehu Valley Road had been opened for light. Wheel traffic. It would be necessary to Aviden some of the slips on the Kimitangi Road as it was gettaing very naflrow in places. The report Avas adopted. Accounts amounting to £149 3/3 vrere passed for payment.
