AND WAIMAEINO ADVOCATE (With which is incorporated The Taibape Post and Waimarino News.)
From what is reported of him, Faithless Ferdinand of Bulgaria does not shine as over-blessed with great powers of perspicacity, 'and his Minister Radaslovoff is, seemingly, not much better favoured, for, of all the belligerents following the Kaiser there are none who so thoroughly believe in their master’s gospel, none who are such victims to their own credulity as the Bulgarians. It is, indeed, amusing to read the big soft-headed Monarch being sullen because he cannot be crowned Emperor of Macedonia, and of his hopes of the fulfilment of the Kaiser’s promise that he shall be crowned Emperor in St. Sophia, at Constantinople. Sucn laith is only commendable when it is the result of the soundest of reasoning, and his blind belief is sure to have its rude awakening sooner or later. When the Bulgarian people, who have been led to play the part of, not only the
ungrateful, but of the traitor to their erstwhile deliverers from, the atrocities of Turkey, and of practically national extinction, realise that Germany has made use of them merely as a tool to save her own skin for just a little longer, their policy of greed will have to be readjusted on quite another plane, 'and it will be interesting to see what course soft-headed Faithless Ferdinand will then adopt. It goes without saying that Greece will have to be recompensed by the Allies for privileges given; Servia will also have to be considered; Montenegro must have something to recoup her loss of life and property, not leaving cut Roumanian claims; but owing to .Bulgaria associating herself with the central powers there will be little difficulty in providing for all with Austrian and Bulgarian territories when boundaries are readjusted. Turkey in all probability, will be a word removed altogether from the map of Europe, but no nation is so much a victim to greed and credulity as Bulgaria, and if, in the end, her territorial voracity is rewarded by being compelled to cede still other territory to Greece it will only be poetic justice overtaking her.
