A sensational accident occurred in Glenbervie terrarce, off Tinakori raid, Wellington, on Thursday, when a runaway motor lorry crashed into a house and caused serious damage thereto. The lorry was engaged in conveying a full load of furniture up Glenbervie terrace. As the lorry proceeded up rise, the wheels were blocked from [behind in case of accident, but the lorry, it is stated, suddenly commenced to go backwards, over-ran the blocks, and ygatheuing .considerable pa.ee, crashed" into the house at the foot of the street, No. 253 Tinakori road. A friend of mine, writes a correspondent, whose hobby i s natural history, has identified the Kaiser as the Beast of Revelations. He refers me to the authoritative "check list." The Beast with Seven Heads is the Kaiser and his family; the ten Crowns are the original German 'and adjacent —some more or less extinct; the Dragon of the fourth verse means obviously Militarism. The power to continue for forty and two months means that the war will last three years and six months, which is rather alarming. The seventh verse mentions power over nations, tongues, and kindreds. That unfortunately is obvious enough. The eighteenth verse says that the number of the Beast is the number of a man six hundred and three score and six (666). The Kaiser was born on the 27th of January, 1859, so was fifty-five year s and six months old exactly when war was declared in August 1914. If you reduce his age at that time to months it is 666 —the mark of the Beast. CUEE FOE EHEUMATISM. This is not a patent medicine, it is a prescription of an eminent English specialist. For years I had been a sufferer from chronic rheumatism. One year ago I consulted one of the lead lng specialists of the Dominion • (now deceased). On receipt of postage stamps, money-order, or postal notes for 4/6, I will post twelve doses of the remedy, which this specialist declared to be the only thing known to science as a cure for this painful disease.
