GERMANY’S FUTURE FIGHTING.
An Italian military critic who has been investigating German military strategy during the war has come to the conclusion that the German general staff must fight henceforth without any serf cf programme. He thus advances his arguments. Germany has jfought with the sole object of conquering and occupying territory, but Muring fifteen months she has attained no serious objective, and, above all, ,she has not been able to strike one blow at her principal adversary, England. All the German successes are but Pyrrhic victories, and in her efforts to obtain them she lias only exhausted herself. Pier expedition to the : Balkans is an act of folly prompted .by desperation. Knowing she cannot gave herself, Germany is carrying the flaming brandwherever she can. She undestands she must perish, and befere her own destruction she aims at bringing it upon the entire world. But without the command of the sea Germany, despite all her victories, will be 'alway sa defeated nation, Nevertheless, under these conditions, the war may last some years —it will last until Germany is destroyed. Yet before she is destroyed by her adversaries it may well be that she will find he own ruin in her own country. A colossal revolution is not an Utopian vision. It may be nearer than ! the world thinks, and it may be also that this expedition into the Balkans hag been undertaken with the object of keeping this fearful bugbear temp.crari'y at a distance.
