GIRL HAIRDRESSERS.
When the German and Austrian •haidresscrs again invade London armed with scissors and curling tongs they may find their occupation gone. Women are learning the trade. The London County Council has instituted several classes, notably at the Trade School for Girls, Barrett Street, W., where women are learning all the mysteries of curling and crimping and waving. There is plenty of activity and variety in the learners' saloon. The girls play at "customers" as they ore taught, shampooing, brushing, simple hairdressing, and Marcel waving. A.ll the features of the up-to-date hairIrcasers' shop are there. There is a a row of basins jutting out from the wall in the approved style, an electric drier, and a number of brushes, 'ombs, towels, curling tongs, and head-shapes covered with wigs.
Girls of from 14 to 1G are instructed -'pry afternoon. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings there are classes for women. T-'ie work is all in an -elementary stage yet, but some of the pupils are producing water waves (in which the hair is first thoroughly damped and then made wavy with -apes) and Marcel waves (which are made by hot tongs) with the sure touc-h of the proficient artist.
