WELL-WORN STORY.
A pretty little romance, which, however, carries an old ring about it,, is going the rounds of Paris salons,, enchanting all those to whom it is recounted. Seeing that it has the Prince of Wales for hero, the anecdote should find equal favour in England. Two British officers* motoring from the front, came across a wounded French soldier. To assist the fellow into the car, and make him comfortable, was the work of a few minutes* On the way the poilu became communicative, talked about him fiancee and produced her photo. “'Have you not one of your bonne amie?” askied the man of the younger of the safnaritaines, whereupon the' latter blushed furiously. “No,” stammered the youthful officer, “but I have a portrait of my father on me, and I will make you a present of it.” Upon this the Prince produced a sovereign and handed the gold piece to the confused French piou-piou.
