Trooper W. H. Maemillan, who joined the first Australian division at the start of the war. in a letter *i his father, Mr. W. Maemillan, ol* Palmersen North, in writing from Lemnos, where he was having a spell, after five months in the trenches from the landing, says he lias never been unfit for duty for a single day. After the five months on Gallipoli Peninsula and when the Australians landed at Lemnos for a spell his battalion mustered only 40 men. The men had a splendid time at Lemnos, being well fed and carded for by the authorities. Trooper Maemillan states things ses* from England arrived regularly, whereas those sent from New Zealand reached the ■ men very very irregularly, and often never. TAIHAPE ATHLETIC CLUB.
