WELLINGTON WOOL SALE. A DROP IN VALUES. AMERICAN BUYERS LESS ACTIVE. WELLINTON, This Day. At yesterday's wool sale 23,500 bales were offered. The demand for American wa s comparatively slack, and prices for finer wools were fully o penny co three-farthings down. Bradford wools were a penny better thon last November. The position of the prices caused some little surprise, and a feature of the sale was the large quantity of wool passed in, showing that growers had an opinion of values which the market did not sustain. Wool sold for patriotic purposes b"cught £774, and £IIS was subscribed in the room for the Mayor's Xmas dinner to the Soldiers' Fund. AN APPEAL TO RSCKUITS. HOLDING BACK FOR CHRISTMAS. WELLINGTON. This Day. Mr. Massey has issued a'.special appeal to recruits jjvho have enlisted but who have stated that they could not go into camp until after the holidays. He has ashed them to give up the fleeting pleasures of a few days for the more lasting pleasures of having done the right tiring at the right time.
