I SPORTING. WOODVILLE RACES. SECOND DAY. The second day of the Woodville Summer meeting is being held in glorious weather. The attendance is large. Results:—• Telegraph Hack—Veto 1, Lady Black 2, Jean 3. Scratched:—Laddo and Pall Mall. Won comfortably by two lengths. Time lmin. 3sec. Second Hack Hurdles: Rexer 1, Imposter 2, Kauwairoa 3. Won easily by two lengths. Time 2min. 57sec. Cyra was scratched.

Some additional figures in connection with the National Register were issued to-day by the Government Statistician. They deal with men who are not of military, age and bring the total number of men registered between the ages of 17 -and (10 to 295,034. The main features of the Register may now be summarised as follows :< —
Accepted for the forces, but not called up, 4,430; British subjects aged 17 and IS, 16,981; men willing to serve with the forces, 100,683; men willing to serve in civil capacity, 43,524; men unwilling to serve at all, 34,386; volunteered for the forces, but rejected. 9,042; incapacitated for service, 3,963; British subjects aged 45 to 59, 68,433; returned soldiers,- 294: foreign subjects, 4,298.
