NEW BETTING LAWS.
HE -VVY DUTY ON EOOKMAK^NG. - r RACING TICKETS TAXED. SYDNEY, This Day. (Reed. 8.50 a.in.) The Government’s new taxation proposals being introduced this week, include taxes on betting tickets and bookmakers. The latter will be called on to pay for entry to the Randwick Course and paddock £SO: to the Legcr £2O; to flat races £5. To suburban, country and pony courses end paddocks £2O; to Leger £lO additional. The Government proposes to take 20 per cent of the fees paid by bookmakers to racing clubs. Each betting-Ticket is to bear a penny government stamp. It is expected that this new taxation will realise half a million per annum.
