EXPLOSIVE SHELLS AND MACHINE-GUNS.

This evening in the Town Hall, Taihape, Staff Sergt.-Major Tuckey will deliver an address on “Explosives and Machine Guns,” and it is anticipated that there will be a large attendance of the public. In order to make the lecture as practical as possible, the Ser-geant-Major has arranged with the Defence Department for the use of a machine-gun for the purpose, and also seme sectional shells, which will greatly assist the_ public to grasp the several points to be explained. The machine-guns have been put to very great use in the present struggle, more so than would ever have been antieipaied, and the whole question rf munitions has been kept prominently before the public, who will no doubt seize this opportunity of gaining some knowledge about the manufacture and composition of shells as well as the working and possibilities of the ma-chine-gun. The whole of the proceeds are to he devoted to the Wounded Soldiers’ Fund. On Monday Staff Sergt.-Major Tucke v will lecture on the same subject at R.nnni'vnhia and on Tuesday at Mangaweka.
