A court-martial, at Melbourne,, lias sentenced 20 soldiers who recently escaped from the detention camp,, to 100 days’ imprisonment. The sum cf £45,000 has been raised in Sydney i. connection with Allies’ Day and already cabled to London to London for distribution in France, Poland, Sorvia, and Montenegro. Major-General Legge, commanding the Second Australian Division at Gallipoli. has been admitted to a hospital owing to illness, but his condition is not serious. Coronet Holmes has talcon over the command. The Sydney advocates of wet canteens are seizing upon the recent disturbances to urge the need . of beer canteens at the camps. They urge that the men are compelled to go outside to secure supplies, and the result is that they drink much more than would be at their disposal at the camps.
