SOUTHERN GRAIN & PRODUCE.
CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 23
It is feared that the severe frost on Sunday has done damage to the grain crops in ear, and potato crops have suffered more or less severely and have been considerably checked in growth.
The grain market is very quiet. There is no apparent demand fur wheat or oats, and little is offering. The old potato crop is about exhausted, only a few lots being held by growers. The price quoted is £9 10/ at country stations.
WELLINGTON PRODUCE MARKET
Where old potatoes are available the market has been showing a steady tone and a fair volume of operations has been taking place: new potatoes are meeting with a splendid inquiry and the quality is generally satisfactory; at the same time from districts near at hand there is unfortunately great evidence of blight. The demand for onions is being met by Victoria, the condition of which as the season advances is improving.
Potatoes, prime old, £l2 to £l3 per ton; fair, £lO to £11; prime new, Ud to 2d per lb; good, Id per lb, onions, £S to £9 per ton.
