GALLIPOLI DAY.
OVER £lOl RAISED. The collections, in fact, all functions for raising money for the Gallipoli fund, yesterday were an unqualified success. The commercial section might have doubled their income had they made arrangements with their merchants for repeat orders, fcr they had not well got the shutters out of sight when a rush occurred, soxnetning like a 1 huge bargain sale day, and they were 'cleaned out. The work was furious while it lasted, and the returns were quite satisfactory.. All concerned are to be congratulated, for over £l7 was realised. The house to house canvassers did their work very thoroughly, and were responsible for over £23 in shillings. The afternoon tea at the saleyards brought in over another £6, strong evidence that it was in very excellent and persistent hands. The evening Lorry Concerts were enjoyable and they'added over £5 to the pool, which when the whole returns were counted, totalled upwards of £lOl with six count lists still to come m.
