GALLIPOLI DAY.

A TAIHAPE PROPOSAL. A few days ago the Mayoress of Taihape (Mrs. A. L. Ar rowsmith) received a communicution from Wellington in connection with the institution of a “Gallipoli Day,” which was published in these columns. The idea originates with the combined sports bodies at their headquarters, and Mrs. Arrowsmith was asked to endeavour to, establish an organisation in Taihape. With this object in view a meeting of ladies, representative of sports bodies, and the general public, is convened for Wednesday next, the 17th inst?, at S p.m., in the Town Hall. The proposal has something of novelty about it, and no doubt there will be a ready and genera.! response.
