WANGANUI PATRIOTIC SHOW.
TO-MORROW (WEDXESDA Y).
To-morrow will be the opening dav of the Wanganui Agricultural Society’s Patriotic Show. Thi.s year the enMes all round are a record, particularly in. the stock and homo industries classes, where keen competition will take place.
For the convenience of stock exhibitors it is mentioned that the showground entrance for horses is via .Tacksou St., and cattle at the Recreation. Ground end. Special train services to the Show are advertised. A special Gann service will also be run. ATHLETICS. WAXGANCI COLLEGE COMPETITIONS. HEAT Y W EIGHT BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY A TAIHAPE BOY. A Taihape boy, Mr. Roy Joblin, has easily annexed the heavyweight boxing championship of the college for a second year in succession. As a matter of fact, he won all his bouts without being seriously troubled at any time. Roy now holds quite a string of athletic honours, among them being: Long Jump —Mrs Erapson’s Challenge Cup: Putting the Weight—Mr. R. T. Batley’s Challenge Cup; High Jump — Dr. Christie’s Cup: and the Heavyweight Boxing Champion Cup. The Taihape boy is again leading for the much-coveted Morrison Championship Cup. which is awarded to the athlete winning the greatest number of points in all branches of sport throughout the year. It may be mentioned that tins is Roy’s last year at College, as ho leaves at the end of the term, but next ver.r, he says, “when I reach my majority, I am going away to the front to do all that one can do towards administering a knock-out to Kaiserdom.” Good for von, Roy I
