Mr W. K. Haseklen, S.M., at Wanganui, moving a vote of respectful sympathy and condolence to the relatives of the men fallen in the war. said that the motion hardly required any words added to commend it to the sympathies of the audience, who realised the loss that the relatives of the dead had sustained and in wfoose inmost hearts “Longed for the touch of the vanished hand, and the sound of a voice that is still. Continuing, Mr Haseklen said that a brave man died but one death! A coward died a ' thousand deaths. A man who gave his life for his country would be mourned by thousands, and his memory would be cherished. It was the most glorious manner in which a man could pass th ough the portals of death. Thus the:' ehcmd think of those who had gene. Xo evil could touch those soldiers. They were indeed the happy dead—their duty well done. The path of duty was the way of glory. They fell in the right course, and though dead still lived in the hearts of the | people.
