DROUGHT CONTINUES. r (Reed. 9.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Bush fires and the drought on the North Coast continue unabated, there being enormous losses of stock and other damage. There Rave been many narrow escapes. REFERENDUM CAMPAIGN. (Reed. 9.40 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. There is general satisfaction at the abandonment of the referenda by the Labour Party and many members are pleased. There has been growing disinclination at tlhe Referendum campaign for some time and the party leaders of the various states are also satisfied. CAPTAIN BROWNLEE WOUNDED. I SYDNEY, This Day. Captain Brownlee was demonstrating bomb throwing with a catapult gun at Jantin, and a bomb prematurely exploded, injuring Capt. Brownlee and two others. Captain Brownlee held a commission in the Worcesters, and after being wounded at Flanders, was appointed to the stall of Duntroon College in Australia.
