RECRUITING. NEW IDEA BEING CONSIDERED. WELLINGTON, This Day. Recognising what a powerful recruiting agent the sight of men in khaki is, the Government has under consideration plans for sending drafts of reinforcements on visits to other centres. A beginning will be made with Christchurch. The Bth Reinforcements will embark for Lyttelton on the 12th inst., and march through the streets of Christchurch on Saturday or Sunday, or possibly on both days. N.Z. TROOPS PRAISED. WELLINGTON, Nov. 3. The Minister of Defence states that a cablegram has been receried by the Governor from the Army Council intimating that the training of the New Zealand forces has proved uniformly satisfactory while their discip'ine. physical efficiency, zeal, powers of endurance, intelligence and general aptitude for warfare as exemplified in several of the most arduous operations, have been beyond praise, and have enabled them to render most conspicuous services to the common cause. The Army Council Is confident That any future demands on the manhood of New Zealand will be met by the provision of forces of no less military value. "This,” Mr Allen added, “proves that our system of recrutfng' and training men and bringing them into camp at definite periods for instruction has been founded on right lines, and, properly carried out, has earned the commendation of the Army Council—the highest British military authority.”
