AMUSEMENTS.
THREE STARS THEATRE. The programme now being shown at the Three Stars Theatre is the best that has been shown in that hall for some time, and all picture-lovers should make a point of seeing it. The Keystone is an exceptionally good one and is the limit for fun. KING’S THEATRE. There was a good house at the King's Theatre last evening, when a very line programme was screened, including an exceptionally funny Keystone. The whole programme was very good and is much above the average. DEFENCE NOTES. All Maoris registered and passed medically fit will concentrate at Palmerston to-day and proceed straight to Auckland to encamp. Mr W. A. Inness, of the Taihape Borough Council staff, jha-s been appointed an electrician with the engineers, and leaves here on the 15th inst. for Trentjham. Mr Archibald Anderson, borough engineer, has been accepted as a N.C.O. in t;he engineers of the 12th Reinforcements, and leaves for camp on the 16th instant.
Messrs T. J. O’Conner and J. Delanay lmve been accepted for service in the engineers, and Messrs W. Fox, Watt, ant? O Leary have been accepted for service in the artillery, and leave for oemp cn the 15th instant.
Messrs J. Boyd, C. W. Hole, P. J. Keegan, J. Delanay, H. D. Illstcn, W. A. Inness, and J. Egan have notified sergt.-major Tuckey of their acceptance of the notification to proceed to Trentham on the 15th inst.
Mr A. A. Boy]and, cf the Public Works Department, Wanganui, i s at present visiting Taihape for the purpose of making estimates of the cost of building a drill shed in the borough. The site is in Hnia Street, above the Tennig Courts.
The plans provide for a drill room 96 by 50 feet, and also for store rooms for mounted rifles, infantry and cadets, while an area store and an office for the area sergeant major will also be arranged. Tfhe building will be lit with electric light and the drill room will have an asphalt floor. The hall is urgently needed in the district, but it is not known yet when a commencement will be made.
