INDIGNATION MEETING.

GOVERNMENT CRITICISED.

(Reed 8.30 a.m.) * SYDNEY, This Day.

An indignation meeting, held in the Town Hall, adopted a resolution expressing strong indignation at the Government’s proposal for dealing v> ith the liquor problem, and urging that nothing less than six o’clock closing ■would be effective, failing that, demanding a referendum on the question. The Rev. Loban, in the course of a fierce speech, said, I impeach the Goa - eminent; they are. not patriotic. I 'don’t say -they are pro-German, but the practical result of this legislation is pro-German. He bitterly attacked .Mr Holman’s recent' attitude.

The Commandant is permitting newspapers to investigate question in Tegard to the pay of returned soldiers with a view to clearing up allegations raised. They have already discovered that some men applying for relief from the patriotic funds have drawn up to £9O since September the 10th, and are still in receipt of service pay.
