Miss Forde’s committee are calling in all their art union tickets on Tuesday, the 9th inst.

The school concert, to be held on Friday evening next, the sth inst., is in aid of the combined candidates.

A gala and gift auction sale arid baraar v. ill be held at Mr and Mrs Gilchrist's i evidence, Utiku, on" Saturday next. The result of the twelfth coimt for the Queen Carnival competition will be screened at the King’s Theatre this evening. The concert and dance, which was advert.sed to take place at Te Kapua this evrrrrg. will not eventuate till nett r uesday evening, the 9th inst. Revellers please note.

The Guy Fawke’s and Fancy Dress Ball, for which great preparations are 'being made, wi’l eventuate on Wednesday, the 15th inst. The festivity is in aid of Miss Carpenter’s candidature.

Then- will be another “Paddy’s Market,” I understand, on Saturday next, and the fun will be thicker than over. There will be all sorts of games and ccmpelitKrs and novelties galore.

The art union fey last week’s picture entertainment was drawn last night, and resulted in ticket 163 securing the first prize, a silver watch,while the second prize went to ticket number 340. Winners may obtain their prizes on application at my office.

The Garden Fete, to be held at th-i residence of Mr and Mrs Spooner, Hih!tahi, on the 11th inst., i s arousing a gocd deal of interest, and the function promises to be a most successful one The pigeon .match (day pigeons) is attracting a big outside entry and this event, for which the prize Is a cup, value £5 5/, features of the gathering.

A la.rse number of local people have intimated their intention of" attending the Ruanui Garden Fete and Sports, to be held on Thursday next, the 4th inst. With anything like a fine day, there should be a record attendance. Drags for the gathering will leave the Royal Mail Stables on Thursday morning. commencing at 8.30 a.m. The return fare has been fixed at 2/6. .

There is a general wake up all round in connection with Carnival matters, and some sensational developments may be expected. The various committees arc beginning to realise that it is not altogether wise in holding on roo long to the bullion, and some of it wll be unloaded this week. A certain popular candidate will, it is said, head the poil toiifbt for a moral. Then the fun will commence.

The prize in connection ; with the picture enlertainments at -the King’s Theatre for the concluding fortnight of the Carnival are, first prize, a beautiful gold bangle; second prize, a lady’s silver watch and chain, third prize, a gentleman’s silver lever watch. And please don’t forget that every person paying the admission fee of one shilling to the picture entertainment has a chance of winning one of these valuable prizes, and also receives 12 votes for the Queen competition. And all for a bob.
