The -Wellington City Council decided at its n eet'ing recently, that no action be taken in the matter of the protest of the Master Grocers' Association at the distribution of certain goods' from the Town Hall amongst members of the corporation staff. The Mayor iwid that a number of employees of the corporation were in the habit of brying goods in large quantities and distributing them amongst themselves at the Town Hall. It was felt that it was no part of the duty of the council to interfere with their attempts to reduce the cost of living. He thought they should rather encourage such efforts. (Hear, hear.) (Notwithstanding all efforts of t[he German authorities in Brussels, there still appears at frequent intervals a little newspaper called "La: Libre Belgique" (says the "Fourth Estate"). Nobody knows who edits it or where it is published. The publisher's address, according to the inscription beneath t|he title, is "Kommandatur," the German headquarters, which is the editor's little joke. A copy always is delivered to each of the leading German officials. The aim of the paper, according to its own statement, is "to sustain the spirit and patriotism" of the Belgian people. Events of tne war are dealt with in airy fashion, and the people are shown why they need not be discourafed. NO COLD IS "NAZOL" PROOF!
THE FINEST SUPPER ALE IK THE DOMINION! "Clear to the tas* Drop." BRANp
