DEATH CHEATED. ! A CLOSE CALL. AUCKLAND, October 29. A man named John Wills, a ship's carpenter, who arrived from Napier, slipped on the wharf and fell into the harbour. One of the tug Awhina's crewsaw the body floating, and it was recovered. Life was apparently extinct, but artificial respiration resulted jn. consciousness being restored, and the man was conveyed to the hospital. His condition is slowly improving.
