The many friends of Mr. John Mahoney will regret to learn that Tu> died at the Taihnpo Hospital last night, Ine decease.! was a very old settler, 'Mid was v.yli and favourably known throughout the whole Taihane. territory. He was employed on railway work when the line through this district was being constructed, but lie did not move on as many others did. Hetook up a. section of land and proved himself a successful farmer. He was" an honourable man in business, and his genial disposition secured him many friends. He loaves a wife, and one son, who is only nine years of rye. The funeral is to take place to-morrow, .and it will leave the Roman Catholic Church at two in the afternoon .for ■‘die Tailpipe Cemetery. A special Requiem Mass is to be celebrated at S o’clock in the morning.
