CONCERT AND DANCE.

Last evening concert and dance was held in the Town Hall, Taihape. in a,d of the candidature of Miss Whenuaroa. There was a fair attend dance, anti those present greatly appreciated the programme presented tothem. Every item wa s encored, and it was not till a Tate hour that the eoneluding number was given. Songs were rendered by Mrs R. J. Loughnan, Mrs Oldham, Messrs A. Walker and S. Perton, and Master S. Peyton. Mrs and Mis s Oldham sang a duet, as did Masters Peyton and Hay, and Mr and Mrs

, Mitchell wftft Mr and Mrs Lotigfcnan r J sang a quartette. Mrs Mitchell sang . to her own accompaniment on the , harp, ancf had to respond to a recall. The tahleau—Britannia and Her Allies '— Avas exceptionally well carried out. and pleased the audience greatly. The item given by the "Tea Girls" wa s of ! distinct merit, and the figure marching of the gymnasium girig and also the dancing of the tango dancers was very good. Mr Short, who is well-known here, sang two soles, and in each case had to answer to two recalls. He was in excelent voice and his scngs suited the audience admirably. The Spoof Band wore aaain in evidence, and created roar? cf laughter. Quinaldo, the eontortcinist. is very clever, and his work is very good indeed. He scored another success last night. The boys' boxing turn was hardly good enoueh to indicate any "Whjte hiope.t' hut iit pleased the audience. An exhibition of muscle control was given by Mr C. ISTicholls, and proved; very interesting. The accompaniments were played byMrs Peyton. The entertainment committee desire to thank all who helped with the concert and desire to expressly thank those who went to the expense of getiinz fancy costumes, and Mr Short, who a* great inconvenience and expense to himself visited Taihape to assist.
