SOLDIERS ARRIVE THIS WEEK

FREE PASSES TO WELLINGTON FOR NEXT-OF-KIN.

It has been arranged by the Defence Department that the next-of-kin of the wounded soldiers arriving by the Tofua and Willochra at Dunedin may get free passes to Wellington to meet them. It will l , however, be necessary for thm to return to Auckland or intermediate stations in the special trains provided for the soldiers. Those from the Tofua will come by the ferry steamer to Wellington, and are expected to reach here on Wednesday or Thursday next. The 'Willochra will come up to Wellington about this day week, and her North Island troops will remain aboard. Definite information as to exactly when the returned soldiers may be expected in Wellington will be published as ,soon as possible.

The Mayor of 'Wellington proposes to have a civic reception for the Tofua men at the Town Hall at 9.30 a.m. This hour has been fixed in order that the soldiers may have no difficulty in catching the trains which will bo arranged for by the Defence Department. It is deemed advisable that the mn should be put on the road home as soon ns practicable, and on that account the ceremony wil? h avo to bo held early in the morning.
