THE DISTRICT'S QUOTA. WELLINGTON, Oc*o:>e? 21. On the basis of the In est registration returns, it has been aV.r.idotl to ask the four military districts throughout the Dominion to supply htie follow, ing percentages for the 10th reinforcements going into camp next month:
Mounted Rifles. —Auckland, 13.54;:' [Wellington, 50.20; Canterbury, 21.11 J Otago, 15.15.
Infantry.—l6.s2. 44.84, 24.96, 13.68. Artillery.—lß.so, 46.57, 22.86, 12.07. Engineers.—24.s7, 45. 34, 22.03, 8.06. Signallers.—33.33, 41.9, 21.56, 3.92. A.S. Corps.—2B.9B, 36.36. 21.59, 13.07. Medical C0rp5.—29.53. 27.46, 24.87, 18.14.
CONCERNING THE TENTHS.
The 10th Reinforcements being the first of the monthly drafts under the new arrangement announced by the Defence Minister last wek will not be as large as previously anticipated. The 10th will comprise approximately 3000" men, or 1000 less than originally contemplated. They will receive the full period of training of four months in New Zealand, and it will not be until they depart that the various drafts will leave New Zealand at. monthly periods. The Wellington military district has done well in making the Bth and 9th reinforcements and 3rd and 4th Battalions New Zealand Rifle Brigade (now in camp at May mo urn.) Nearly half the men for the Sths were drawn from the Wellington district while of the 9ths and the new battalions the same* district contributed ever a third of the total of COOO men.
