A RECORD FUNCTION. j O'VKR £4OO ONE NIGHT. T:hG concert and dance held a! PZoekelast uighc in support of Miss Forde's candidature was a huge success. There was a - rowded attendance and the utmost, enthusiasm the proceedings. The first portion of the-e'-eni:';- consisted of musical numbers* and every item was vigorously encored. The following contributed to the programme: Mrs S. G. Peyton. Me'if.rs H. De t. Tour. Walker, S. G. Peyton, J. A. Walsh and Masters .Jim ilaigh, and Stan. Peyton. Prior to the auctioning of a flag Mr J. Walsh, the organising secretary, delivered a -tir-'log patriotic speech. Bids for the Hag uero then taken by the aucfionee", IK" £. G. Ko?ke has putup a record for the district of which it may he very proud. The secretarial duties were ably carreid out by Mr R. B. Owen, and to whom much of the success of the gathering is clue. The Taihape Concert Party were hospitab"y entertained by Messrs C. Revell and F. Howie. The gathering dis])ersGd at about half-past five this morning alter one of the most successful social entertainments ever held in the district.
