At a meeting of shearers held in Masterton recently resolutions were passed demanding 25/ per 100 for shearing intead of 20/ per 100. As such resolutions are contraventions of the Act, it is probable that several prosecutions may arise out. of the meeting. Mr. M. Laracy, secretary of the Shearers' Union,, wishes it to be known, however, that his executive had nothing whatever to do with the proreferred to, and that they were in no sense official. No few shearers in one district, he states, had the privilege of saying, as they had attempted to say at Masterton, what the whole of the shearers should do. The executive of the union had never been consulted on the matter, and accepted no responsibility whatever for the meeting.
