There is an absolute shortage of ammunition. T*he Government’s requisition of metals has become the wildest pillage. The police are removing the railings from mansions and villas. Enver Pasha is certain that a German arrival is imminent, and has authorised the commandant at the Dardanelles to use the remaining ammunition, expecting ear I |y supples. The Turkish newspapers announce that the Allies are preparing to evacuate Gallipoli.
