Captain Bean cables that latest, newspapers show that the Turks claim that they repuLsed th»> landing of our colonial troops at Karachale on August Cth. This refers to the landing of 380 men of Ifrie French Foreign Legion on the same night as the Suvla landing, in order to give the Turks an idea of a serious landing, and to attract troops in that direction. The force met with slight, opposition and rushed five kilometres inland. When the Turks began to pour down a formidable body of troops they re-embarked successfully. ihe loss being about sixty.
