Mutton: Good demand continues owing to sbirot supply available for the general public. Canterbury 7 3-Sd light wenght; heavy weight 7d; other brands than Canterbury cannot be quoted. Ewes, very brisk demand, owing to scarcity of wethers, 5 7-Bd. Lamb: Less demand owing to large supply of home-grown lamb, selling at | comparatively low prices, Canterbury twos 8 l-8d heavywoigjlit, fours 71d,second class quality lightweight 7 7-3 d, other brands than Canterbury 7^d. Beef: Ordinary quality New Zealand beef cannot be quoted; supplies of Amerian chilled beef, large hinds 7 7-Sd; feres 5 7-Bd. Butter; The market remains firm, but on account of high prices there is less demand for the best quality. Qanisih, quiet, 205/ to 209/; Siberian,■,'go6d > d'ei-' mand for finest, 136/ to 142/; Irish creamery, slow, 172/ to 180/. Cheese; The market is quiet but steady, and prices are firm. Canadian, fair demand, white 76/ to 77/, tcoloured 77/ to 78/; English,Cheddar and cheshr ire firm, moderate demand, 94/ to 96/; New Zealand, steady, white ami coloured 76/ to 77/; United States/. good demand, 72/ to 74/, fine quality, 68/ to 70/. A ::.v Hemp. The Manilla market is dull with a downward tendency for forward shipment owing to ifie poor demand. The spot market is not affected - so far. New graded fair for shipment, £3B to £3B 5/. The cutout, from Manila for the week totalled 20,000 bales.
