Additional details in regard to the special corps of geologists and miners that the Commonwealth. is to (raise for service at the front show tliat the unit is to consist of three companies, each 300 sriong and included in the complement will he skilled engineers as well/ as qualified geologists. It is iutended to recruit the corps immediate-' IV. Applications will be invited from air the mining centre® of Australia, Shd'no difficulty is anticipated in obtaining the required complement of men. As far as is practicable, men enrolled from the same district will be allocated to the same half-company or company. It is expected that some districts wiM be in a position to raise at least half the company of men, if not more. The present intention of the Defence authorities ig to divide each company into two distinct classes of men; —highly skilled workmen and partly skilled workers. The proportion of' skilled ‘workmen, is to* be at least two-thirds of the whole. , j
