The match will be played between teams representing the Combined Ladies' Hockey Clubs and the Borough Council, past and present. 131 e ladies will appear in fancy costume, and have a good team, while the Council, whoso representatives will play in skirts, etc., has selected a team capable of upholding the reputation of that august body. The programme for the concert is well in hand and should prove attractive enough to satisfy the tastes of the most fastidious. Vocalists and instrumentalists from Mangaweka, Hunterville, and Marton have promised to assist, and everything promises a good entertainment. The concert committee has .decided that purchasers of concert tickets shall have one or two chances, according to the value of the ticket, in an art .union to bo. drawn on Saturday next. This art union is restricted to the concert, so that only patrons have a chance of winning the prize—a pair of boots presented by Mr. J. Murray.
On Friday next the settlers of Bennett’s Siding propose holding a “Guy Fawkes”.and “Hard Times Dance” in .theii* hall, the funds to further the interest of “Our Boys’ ” Candidate. A novelty dance of this nature should prove an attraction and a solid surplus shoiild reward the enterprising committee for its happy thought.
