When the Rimutaka, which arrived at Wellington on Saturday, left London there was a good deal of anxiety regarding submarines: There was, however, unceasing vigilance upon the part of the Admiralty noticeable in several ways, which it is not advisable to publish. The Rimutaka was given "full speed ahead under Admiralty advice, and steered a zig-zag course down the Channel. A British airship "shadowed" the Rimutaka part of the way, a valuable precaution, as submarines many feet below the sea are rendered visible from a height above the wr.tor Captain Hemming had all the ship'* boats swung out, provisioned, and ■ready for immediate launching. The captain remained on the bridge for 40 consecutive hours —until all danger was over.
