Tho concert and dance held at Matairoa last night ot assst the projects of the Ruanui representative was an unqualified success. The function went with a merry swing from start to finish, and the gathering was voted on© of the best ever held in the district. Taihape wag well represented and in-1 eluded the Mayor (Mr Arrowsniith) and the member for the district (Mr R. W. Smith). During the evening/the silken banner,, wjhich som e facetious individual has termed the "bullion collectro" was presented to Miss Fordeby the maker, Miss o'Callaghan,ainidst great cheering. The Taihape Spoof Band, headed by Brother Peyton, was very much in evidence, and discoursed sweet and seductive music in a manner calculated to win them undying fame. During the interval the silken banner wa s introduced to tihe audience by Mr H. O'Callaghan, and the following was the response: Messrs R. W. Smith, M.P., £1 1/, J. Gilchrist £1 1/, R. Siddells £3 3/, D. McKay £5 5/, May £1 1/, Brookey £1 1/, D. McGregor £1 1/, Steedman £1 1/, Bennett £1 1/, Doherty £ll/, Brady £1 1/, Ruanui Station £5 5/, J. Gilchrist £1 1/, R. Smith's committee has decided to alter the date of their euchre party to Thursday, evening, the 23rd •in St., in the supper room of the T/wn Hall.

Mrs Dashwood is giving a ■<&.; len party on Tuesday next, the 28th h st., in honour of "Our Boys" candidate: The supporters of the Utiku representative are having a euchre party in the Torere schoolroom on Saturday evening next, to.assist their i,oimm»c\ Mr s J. Gllcfhrist. Motor cars for the garden party, to be held at Mrs R. W. Smith's residence to-morrow (Thursday) aternoon, will leav e the post "office everjy few minutes for the scene of festivities. No charge will be made for conveying visitors. There will be all sorts of games and competitions; also a bran tub and a produce stall. Th e ladies in charge of tlhe latter should do.a thriving business, as I understand there will be a large and varied assortment of all.sorts of farm produce, including butter, eggs, honey, potatoes, poultry and vegetables.

There will be a sacred concert and rebjal at Mrs J. Barsby's on Sunday afternoon next in furtherance of the "Red Cross" candidate, Miss Carpenter.
