They wake you in the morning, and dog your comings and goings a!ll day. In . the French and British trenches in Flanders the flies stre just a s devilish, and thW s eem to tlhrive on poison-gas and lydditg fumes. The German trenches are always close, and if the flies make you feel that life is a curse, you' have only to put your head above the parapet, and the sniper will do the trick gratis. i
