CARNIVAL NOTES.

Matters in connection with the Carnival are beginning to assume interesting de\ elopments, and it is expected that within tine next few davg at feast three candidates will be nominated. Miss Miria Whenuaroa, of Taihape, ha s allowed herself to b e nominated, and it is said that this younglady possesses an excellent winning chance. Certainly she will leave no stone undisturbed to secure the premier position.
The Railway and Civil Service mak e no seojret of the fact that they will be there or thereabouts fit tbs finish, and they are convening a meeting for two o’clock on Sunday afternoon next for the purpose of selecting a representative. .
The Matafoa district is allowing ,no vegetation to <irow under their .feet in connection wdtli a candidate, for that locality, and a meeting of ladie s interested will be held at the Rongoiti schoolroom, to-morrow (Thursday) afternoon, at 3 o’clock, with the object of selecting a representative. The business people cf Taihape hav e also been asked to nominate a Queen, and a meeting for that purpose has been -comm;efnric(d fCr to-mofirow (Thursdajy) evening at S p.m., .m the supper room of the Town Hall.
