A COMMITTEE ELECTED.
A well-attendee meeting of cue- Civil Servants was lieild in the Railway Hall on Sunday afternoon for the purpose of electing, a committee in connection. witih the. coining Carni val. Thofollowing wer e elected: Mr D. Burrell, chairman; S. Dunhar, secretary; FI. Ward, treasurer; and a committee of 24. The candidate for Queen ship is to be decided upon set. a meeting to to held next Sunday.
Owing to railway men being on different shifts, Sunday i s the only suitable day on which the members cart attend, and', as it is essential that all should be present, and as the object is for a, good cause, it was decided to take the only time for mootings tlhat men could attend, namely, Sunday afternoon. It was realised that fighting had to be- don e on Sunday, and, as it could not be helped, there vas no harm in providing fighters with the sinews of war by holding deliberationson Sunday;
