Mr Black, referring to Mr Wonal's statement, declared that he did not believe there was any systematic bribery among the police, who stood as high in public estimation as any force in the world. Mr Worral explains f .hat he did not intend to impugn the integrity of the Sydney police, which he considered equal to any in the world. What he advocated was the revoking of a portion of the Police Act, making brothels illegal, because such provision had tbe effect of increasing veneral diseases, and exposing the police to temptations from which they should bo protected.
