It has been decided to hold a QUEEN OF THE CARNIVAL FETE in Taihape and contiguous districts in aid of the •WOUNDED SOLDIERS' FUND. This war affects us all: Our lives and liberties are atstake, and if we can't fight, then it BOUNDEN DUTY TO KEEP THOSE WHO ARE FIGHTING FOR US. We want your monetary assistance, for we don't want it to be said that New Zealand forgot her gallant sons in the hour of their need. Remember thatour brave boys are GIVING THEIR LIFE'S BLOOD for, the noblest cause in the history of civilisation — THEY CAN GIVE NO MORE! So ilet those of us who are onlookers in this great struggle for Justice, Freedom, and Humanity —and the farmers in . this country are reaping the benefit of the unfortunate conditions prevailing- _ awake to the fact that it is our sacred duty to help the boys who are fighting our battles. Then let us give freely and generously, even if we have to make a little sacrifice. Send along a cheque for the amount of your donation to the Fund to the Hon. Treas. (MR. A. E. WAKEMAN), and it will be duly acknowledged through the columns of this paper. EVERY POUND SUBSCRIBED TO THE FUND ENTITLES THE DONOR TO 240 VOTES FOR HIS FAVNOMINATIONS of Candidates for the Queen of the Carnival Fete close with the Organising Secretary (MR. J. A. WALSH) on WEDNESDAY, 15th September, 1915.
